Summary for Master Viva at UPM (After Submitted Thesis)

Alhamdulillah, I passed my oral presentation already.  After encountered several obstacles during this study period, there are several tips I would like to share with the respective readers who are eagerly to know what there are going to face after thesis was submitted for examination. 
 

Hopefully, my experience can be benefit to others, insyaallah. 

1. Always make yourself be updated with your student portal

Please always check at the thesis/viva voce with information because it will update you the stage of your thesis. The date your thesis submitted to the examiners is most important to look in. This is because we could know that the thesis is already in the hand of the examiners, and can assumed when the viva date should be held.  

Based on information from the thesis counter, commonly we can know the viva date about 2 to 3 months from the date thesis submitted to examiners. So, please make you yourself free to consult thesis counter for that particular information.  One of my friends, have her viva only 2 ½ months after she submitted the thesis. Glad to hear the news :)

2. Identify person in-charge for your thesis

For this part, it is very important. After four or five months submitted the thesis, where I always consulted through thesis counter, and also telephone, then I just realized and informed from the SGS the person in charge in dealing with my thesis with the examiners. Safe to be safe, if you want your viva as earlier you want, please feel easy to call thesis division from SGS and please ask the  specified name for the person who  in-charge with your thesis. So, in future, you can directly pass to the exact person know about your thesis‘s phases. Rather thaN you face the common passing line among practices among the staff member.

3. Mock viva with supervisory committee and friends

Please make sure you prepared yourself by conducting mock viva. It is not necessarily you conduct the mock viva with your supervisors at the same time. It depends, for me, since the supervisor is very busy; therefore I conducted my mock viva in personal basis where it is relied on the convenience of the supervisor. Identify the nearest place with the supervisor. Therefore, it makes the supervisor easy to come. 

4. Do revision

Of course you have to do all the revisions with regards to your thesis, and practice you oral presentations. Find the information’s and inquiry that are usually asked by the examiners in viva voce.
