Experience in Viva Voce at UPM

 For this part, I would like to share with the readers  my experience during the viva voce session.

For your information, my day was conducted early in the morning around 9.30 a.m.,  at the Room 3.  After all the committee come, and the viva voce started,  the was a welcoming remarks from the chairman and introducing the name of the examiners.  Then, my supervisor and I need to go out first in order to allow the examination committee discussed with each other. After the discussion over, the chairman called us to go inside the room. 

At this time, I have to present my oral presentation in front of them about 20 minutes. Alhamdulillah, I managed to present it well and finish it on time. For those who will be presenting the research, please ensure that you prepare a cup of water first because  during my time, there was no  any bottle of mineral water provided. But, there was a water filter and cups at the back of the room. So, please serve its own your own selves because maybe you feel butterfly in the stomach and make you thirsty.  And, do not hesitate offer the drinks to the other committee politely. 

Then, after the presentation, there will be a questions and comments session. In this session, please provide your arguments so well because it is the most important part. Be reflective to all the questions from the examiners and also chairman. Your supervisor cannot help you to clarify it. So that, before you go for the viva, please make sure you have already discussed your slides with the supervisors. Familiarize with the problem statement, well versed with the methodology, remember your references, implications from this study and last but not least, your contribution for the future research. 

Ok, after the discussion, my supervisor and I need to go out for the second time for the second discussion of the examination committee. Then, went inside again when we were called. In this agenda, it was short and precise where the chairman will only announce  the result and the examiners will congratulate me and supervisors. Alhamdulillah. 

By the way, the full report only will be retrieved after the chairman prepared it and sent to the chairman. Therefore, for the time being, I’m in the mood of waiting for the reports. Hopefully, I will get it from SGS next as soon as possible for making further correction. And last but not least, hoping there is no any critical comments need to done.
