Re-Run Turnitin for Thesis Submission after Viva Voce

Alhamdulillah. Done for my correction stage in one month after receiving the viva voce report from the chairman of the examination committee. After get approval from the supervisor, as well as the internal examiners on the correction made, today, I run again the thesis in turnitin. All is well. Thanks God. 

What I am going to share with you is my experience in doing the turnitin. Although it is short and simple, but it is important in ensuring that the draft is not redundant with the existing turnitin report done before we submit to the SGS for viva. As such, I have consulted the liason officer in PSAS UPM library for the clarity. Thanks to God again because after the explanation, I realized that I cannot simply run my turnitin in another new assignment created by the supervisor because it can create double draft in one time in the server. So, if I did it, urrh, problems to me. 

Ok, so now , what I need to do.. Hurmm, here I will share with all of the readers the steps that need to be followed (actually this only my case, may be another student may have different styles). Since the existing account  of mine has already expired, so my beloved supervisor has to renew it first. In order to ensure all the process done smoothly, I made a tutorial first with the liason librarian officer, then I explain it to my supervisor. So, it saved my time a lots. ALHAMDULILLAH

• Ensure you have already create your turnitin account. The are 3 things you need to get from your supervisor and save in your phone are; Class Name, Class id, and Enrollment password
• Ok, then, meet your supervisor and do together with her/him how to renew the date of the turnitin.
• In your supervisor account, a) choose your class name....find and choose the button edit on the right side....then you will find the class end date (please renew the expiry date)...then click submit, b) then go back to class name again...on your right...choose more actions...edit setting...at the due date.. change the due date
• ok then go to the optional settings...please find 'submit paper to'... then choose 'no repository'.
• Again, please find 'generate originality report for student submission'.. then choose ' immediately can overwrite report until due date'

Ok, after I did all these things, alhamdulillah I can submit the new draft successfully.

PAGE NUMBER UNTUK SPESIFIK MUKA SURAT

Hari ni ida nak citer pasal nak letak page pada muka surat yang specific. Tengah duk buat correction ni la tiba-tiba page number bertukar. Kadang-kadang ada certain case tu, no. roman jadi tak betul . duk piker macam manalah ida buat sebelum submit tesis untuk viva ritu. Tiba-tiba dah lupa dah setting untuk tu. Tanya cik husbandpun, dia dah lupa camna kawan ofis lama dia buat. Nak tak nak.. kena explore dengan en. Google dululah agar tak menyusahkan orang dengan silly matter camni. Tapi bagi ida yang tak berapa arif tentang IT ni memang jadi isu besar sebenarnya. In fact, Siswazah nak kita jadikan ia satu file jer untuk title page sebelum thesis content tu..

Alhamdulillah. Kerja ida dipermudahkan Allah. Oleh itu, agar benda ni tak hilang begitu saja, dan nak elak daripada benda tu berulang. Ida nak share dengan kengkawang la. Lagipun ia penting untuk perjalan akademik ida nanti.

Ok, jom follow step ni tau. Insyaallah dengan pengetahuan yang dah ada, perlu ada kreativiti la untuk buat semua ni. Mcm susun atur nombor dan sebgainya. Yang ida tunjuk ni asas je tau kenkawangJ

1) Click  kat beginning of the page yang kita nak buat, contoh kat section 2 ------ Click Break------Insert Next Page Break (Sekarang dah jadi section break tu)

2) Click Home- pi kat paragraph button (yang macam symbol ‘p’ terbalik tu, selepas lambang A-TO Z) – cuba tengok akan ada tulis ‘ Section Break Next Page’ dekat last page section pertama----- Then unclick balik symbol ‘p’ terbalik tu.

3) Click Page No.-------- choose Bottom Page----- Select middle------(nombor akan start pada page nombor satu keseluruhan files tu).

4) Untuk jadikan setiap nombor separately pada setiap section ----pergi dekat ‘Design Tab’ ----Click  ‘Link to Previous Page’ (Pastikan bot link to previous page tu tak biru, or it means unclick)----go to ‘Insert Tab’------Page No.-------Click ‘Format Page’-----Then kuar Pop up----- dekat ‘page numbering system., then unclick continuous previous section----then tick start at ----choosing no. 1---Then click ok

5) Kalau previous section nak jadikan takdop page----tekan kat no. page kat previous section tu----delete.

Experience in Viva Voce at UPM

 For this part, I would like to share with the readers  my experience during the viva voce session.

For your information, my day was conducted early in the morning around 9.30 a.m.,  at the Room 3.  After all the committee come, and the viva voce started,  the was a welcoming remarks from the chairman and introducing the name of the examiners.  Then, my supervisor and I need to go out first in order to allow the examination committee discussed with each other. After the discussion over, the chairman called us to go inside the room. 

At this time, I have to present my oral presentation in front of them about 20 minutes. Alhamdulillah, I managed to present it well and finish it on time. For those who will be presenting the research, please ensure that you prepare a cup of water first because  during my time, there was no  any bottle of mineral water provided. But, there was a water filter and cups at the back of the room. So, please serve its own your own selves because maybe you feel butterfly in the stomach and make you thirsty.  And, do not hesitate offer the drinks to the other committee politely. 

Then, after the presentation, there will be a questions and comments session. In this session, please provide your arguments so well because it is the most important part. Be reflective to all the questions from the examiners and also chairman. Your supervisor cannot help you to clarify it. So that, before you go for the viva, please make sure you have already discussed your slides with the supervisors. Familiarize with the problem statement, well versed with the methodology, remember your references, implications from this study and last but not least, your contribution for the future research. 

Ok, after the discussion, my supervisor and I need to go out for the second time for the second discussion of the examination committee. Then, went inside again when we were called. In this agenda, it was short and precise where the chairman will only announce  the result and the examiners will congratulate me and supervisors. Alhamdulillah. 

By the way, the full report only will be retrieved after the chairman prepared it and sent to the chairman. Therefore, for the time being, I’m in the mood of waiting for the reports. Hopefully, I will get it from SGS next as soon as possible for making further correction. And last but not least, hoping there is no any critical comments need to done. 

TIPS PENTING BAGI POSTGRADUATE STUDENT

Tips ini saya tujukan kepada sesiapa yang kurang berkemahiran dalam ASPEK TEKNIKAL penulisan yang senasib dengan saya. Bagi, yang dah expert, takpe la. Niat sekadar berkongsi.

Tips nya are as follows;

•  Tetapan untuk letakkan navigation pane for heading

Go to View -  cari Navigation Pane- Then tick inside the box – Then akan muncul satu box sebelah kiri word anda 

 

•   Nak buat spesifik headings

 Highlight  kat mana-mana tajuk headings yang kita nak buat – Then go to Home- Kat atas sebelah kanan pilih mana-mana heading yang kita nak. Contoh- Heading 1 – Then akan ada heading tu. Dan juga seterusnya. Heading 2, 3 ….

 

• Baiki setiap heading

Disebabkan setiap heading tu font yang berlainan, kita boleh modify font tu untuk standardizekan every font for the whole of the writings.

Contoh nak modify heading 1 – Pergi Home- Pergi kat specific heading yang kita nak modify tadi, Heading 1 – Then Right Click – Akan appear satu box – macam dalam gambar ni – got to Formatting – boleh adjust apa2 yang kita nak dari segi font, dsbgnya yang ada kat situ – Pergi lagi kat bahagian bawah dalam box tu jumpa satu “automatically update” (please tick) – Then paling bawah ada kotak Format –Tekan- then pilih and Tekan Paragaph – appear box lain- so pilih apa yang patut .

# My thesis: Heading 1 = 24pt ; Heading 2,3,4 = 12 pt ; line spacing- Double  - Tekan ok- ok

S   # TAK PERLU NAK SCROLLS UP & DOWN UNTUK STANDARDIZEKAN FONT FOR EVERY HEADING. SANGAT MEMUDAHKAN KERJA DAN JUGA MENJIMATKAN MASA. PADA WAKTU YANG SAMA DAPAT ELAK DARIPADA KESALAHAN TEKNIKAL.

Summary for Master Viva at UPM (After Submitted Thesis)

Alhamdulillah, I passed my oral presentation already.  After encountered several obstacles during this study period, there are several tips I would like to share with the respective readers who are eagerly to know what there are going to face after thesis was submitted for examination. 
 

Hopefully, my experience can be benefit to others, insyaallah. 

1. Always make yourself be updated with your student portal

Please always check at the thesis/viva voce with information because it will update you the stage of your thesis. The date your thesis submitted to the examiners is most important to look in. This is because we could know that the thesis is already in the hand of the examiners, and can assumed when the viva date should be held.  

Based on information from the thesis counter, commonly we can know the viva date about 2 to 3 months from the date thesis submitted to examiners. So, please make you yourself free to consult thesis counter for that particular information.  One of my friends, have her viva only 2 ½ months after she submitted the thesis. Glad to hear the news :)

2. Identify person in-charge for your thesis

For this part, it is very important. After four or five months submitted the thesis, where I always consulted through thesis counter, and also telephone, then I just realized and informed from the SGS the person in charge in dealing with my thesis with the examiners. Safe to be safe, if you want your viva as earlier you want, please feel easy to call thesis division from SGS and please ask the  specified name for the person who  in-charge with your thesis. So, in future, you can directly pass to the exact person know about your thesis‘s phases. Rather thaN you face the common passing line among practices among the staff member.

3. Mock viva with supervisory committee and friends

Please make sure you prepared yourself by conducting mock viva. It is not necessarily you conduct the mock viva with your supervisors at the same time. It depends, for me, since the supervisor is very busy; therefore I conducted my mock viva in personal basis where it is relied on the convenience of the supervisor. Identify the nearest place with the supervisor. Therefore, it makes the supervisor easy to come. 

4. Do revision

Of course you have to do all the revisions with regards to your thesis, and practice you oral presentations. Find the information’s and inquiry that are usually asked by the examiners in viva voce.

Alhamdulillah. Syukur ke hadrat Allah S.W.T kerana diberi peluang untuk berbakti kepada ibu dan bapa. Dengan QASEH GOLD KEKANDA  yang menjadi antara salah satu asbab, resdung ayah saya sendiri  telah dapat dirawat. Ye lah. Ayah saya ni jenis tidak suka berubat, degil, dan susah sangat pergi klinik. Kami satu keluaga memang bimbang akan kesihatannya. Nak tergur, takut plak kan….

Disebabkan, kami anak beranak dan menjadikan QASEH GOLD ini sebagai amalan harian, dan merasai manfaatnya, maka balik kampong satu hari, saya memperkenalkan QASEH KEKANDA pada ayah saya ni. Ikutkan dia, mmg tak minum la sendiri. Mak saya pun tak berani suruh lebih. Namun, saya rasa saya dah besar dan saya yakin apa yang saya buat itu betul, dan demi usaha plus bertawakal pada Allah,  cuba untuk ikhlaskan hati, (suami ada, ayah nak marah buat apa kan.. hihihi), sambil- sambil duk layan PENCETUS UMMAH, dan Ustaz Haslin selaku DUTA QASEH,  idea tiba-tiba datang. Saya pergi dapur, letak madu dalam sudu, suap kat anak dan suami saya. Adik yang batuk sebab musim tenkujuh pun saya kerah makan. Then, lastly, saya bagi ayah saya. Ayah tak boleh buat apa. Tercengang, then terpaksa minum juga sebab suami dan mata2 liar lain duk tengok. Apa respon ayah saya?

“ Sedap jugok madu ni rupanya”. Semua tergelak.

Alhamdulillah, terharu pun ada sebab dapat bagi ayah minum sebab ayah saya ni tak pandai tunjuk kasih sayang. Huhuhu.

Hampir seminggu berada di kampong, ayah tanpa disuruh, bangun pagi sebelum ke kedai kopi, ambil QASEH KEKANDA dulu. Malam saya akan pastikan ayah minum. Alhamdulillah, pada satu tengah hari, ayah bagi tahu, hampir 3 hari dah hidung dia tak berdarah dan sampai sekarang. Bersyukur sangat-sangat. Dia kata semenjak umur kakak saya masih  kecil, (kini kakak saya dah umur 30 tahun) , dia kata pertama kali hidung dia tak berdarah dan sangat selesa bernafas. Dulu ada  ada sekali masa kita orang duk Kelantan. Tapi sehari jer. Yang ni memang selesa sangat dia kata.

Allahu Akbar. Syukur syukur dan terus bersyukur di atas nikmat ini. Memudahkan kehidupan ayah. Kerja sebagai tukang rumah, dengan hidung berdarah setiap hari, amat menguji beliau. Nak pergi solat di surau payah, sebab hidung berdarah dan takut mengganggu Jemaah lain.

Diharapkan, penyembuhan ini berpanjangan dan resdung ayah bertambah baik.

INILAH SALAH SATU SEBAB SAYA INGIN BERKONGSI KELEBIHAN QASEH GOLD DENGAN ANDA SEMUA.
